HISTORY
The Catalan Wrestling Federation was founded in 1924, being president Jaume Garcia and Alsina. The same year the first official Catalan Championship of the Greco-Roman wrestling modality is played. In 1932 the Spanish Federation was founded in Barcelona, chaired by Garcia Alsina himself. The first championships in Spain were played a year later (1933) and the Catalan national team was proclaimed champion. Olympic wrestling was not implemented in Catalonia until 1970, while women's wrestling began to be played in 1998. The specialty called sambo between 1974 in the men's category and 1984 in the women's category. From the sixties to 2012, several clubs have been founded in Catalonia, the Barón de Viver Fight Club, Santo Adrià Club Gym, Ripollet Fight Club, Santo Roc Fight Club, Puig Gym, La Mina Olympic Wrestling Club , champion of Catalonia senior in 2012, and the Hayas Olmpiques Sports Wrestling Club.
